Es Coll Baix – The Wild Heart of Alcúdia Bay
Hidden beneath steep cliffs and accessible only by foot or boat, Es Coll Baix reveals the raw beauty of Mallorca. Those who make the effort are rewarded with a beach experience as unspoiled as it gets.
Raw Nature and Solitude – Es Coll Baix
Es Coll Baix lies on the northern side of the Bay of Alcúdia, east of Cap des Pinar. Surrounded by sheer cliffs and dense pine forest, it is one of the wildest and most impressive beaches on the island.
What makes Es Coll Baix so special is its complete seclusion. The beach consists of dark pebbles, coarse sand, and washed-up stones, framed by a spectacular natural setting. The water is deep blue and crystal clear – perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or simply taking it all in.
Access requires a 30–40 minute hike through the forest on a rocky and sometimes steep trail – not suitable for everyone, but truly rewarding for the adventurous. Alternatively, the beach can be reached by boat.
Seclusion comes at a price: there are no facilities – no toilets, no lifeguards, no services. But that’s exactly what makes Es Coll Baix unique: here, you are alone with nature.
There are no facilities – bring enough water, sun protection, and supplies.
By Car
From Alcúdia, head toward Ermita de la Victòria. Just before the monastery (opposite the picnic area), a rough dirt road leads to the parking lot (note: unpaved!).
On Foot
From the parking lot, a hiking trail of about 2.5 km (approx. 35–45 minutes) leads to the beach. Rocky and partly steep – sturdy footwear is a must!
By Boat
Also reachable by tour boat, kayak, or private boat – ideal for those less experienced with hiking.
